Back to the real world.
A world where I can’t spend entire days wearing a bikini, reading a book and drinking daiquiri’s by the pool.
*sigh*
Cairns was lovely, the weather was perfect every day and I managed to finish 2 books in 5 days. I also managed to drink way too much (with my sister and I supplementing pool side cocktails with extra Bicardi from our own stash), get only a little bit sunburned because you always seem to miss a bit when putting on the sun screen, not over eat too much and gossip waaaaay to much.
We stayed the first 3 nights up in Kuranda and my sister and I went for 2 great runs through the rain forest. The plan this week is run 20 minutes, stop and stretch and then run another 20 minutes. It was easy enough to find our way around up there, though it was pretty hilly and I only managed 6.4km on Monday, then I was able to stretch out to 7.2km on Wednesday. For the Victorians it was not unlike running up at Ferny Creek, just more tropical looking foliage and warmer. It’s funny the way every thing rustles up there, we stopped so I could do my stretching and we could hear lots of rustling and scurrying in the under growth, but couldn’t see what was causing it.
Back home today I did another 20 minute by 2 run, another hilly one around the block near my house, about 7.8km. I got a pretty annoying stitch 10 minutes into the second rep so I had to stop and stretch again, damn thing wouldn’t go away so I just ran through it.
Probably lots of things I can say about the last 5 days but no point boring you all with tales of perfect weather and supreme relaxation is there?
Maybe some pics
Me, Little sister and Mum at Barron Falls. It isn’t the wet season so the falls were not very falls like, just a dirty great big hole with a puddle at the bottom.
Man, the bugs are big up there
The pic up in the header was just me proving that my water proof camera really was water proof, it had to be done.
