Water Running
5 minute warm up
9 by 90 seconds hard with 30 second easy recovery
2 minutes easy
10 by 90 seconds hard with 30 second easy recovery
5 minute cool down
Yeah, lost count there on the second rep
The keen observer would notice that the session are getting more full on each week, 5 weeks ago this was 2 sets of 5, by next week it will be 2 sets of 10.
I spoke to Mum today (yes, reminded her that I am still injured) and guess what she says to me? “Gee, 6 weeks, you must have lost alot of condition by now”
bloody hell, thanks mum, that cheered me right up!
Madness all around
Seconds after getting back to the office after fetching my morning flat white Collins St was mad with police and fire engine sirens, much more than I usually hear on a normal Monday morning. I jumped into a teleconference and the sirens were still going, then an e-mail pops in from my sister-in-law in Queensland “3 shot in Flinders Lane, stay inside, hope you are OK”
WHAT!
Some nutter had shot a woman he was arguing with and 2 bystanders. Sadly one of them, who happened to be out for his morning run, had stopped to help the woman while the guy was pushing her around and was killed for his trouble. Just about every guy I know would stop to help a woman who was being hassled by a guy, hell, I would, you don’t expect them to be killed for their trouble. I am extremely sorry for his family, it’s a terrible day for them.
And to my own personal, and far more trivial woes……..
My call centre is in the process of transitioning to new call routing technology. My colleague and I have to upload and “deploy” 90 numbers by tomorrow afternoon (thanks for giving us a stack of lead time “telco who shall remain nameless”). Alright, so that is only 45 numbers each, should be a doddle. Hmmmm, almost, except the engineer from “telco who shall remain nameless” who wrote the program in his infinite wisdom decided that the information contained in the drop down boxes didn’t need to be in Alphanumeric order. So without sending you all to sleep with the intricacies of the technology this meant I spent all day trawling though a list of 100s of numbers to pick out the one that I was currently working with, and NO there wasn’t a search function and NO I couldn’t just type in the number and YES “telco who shall remain nameless” have been asked to fix it but this won’t be done until later this week.
It fairly sent me cross eyed, each number took up to 30 minutes to set up, only 10 more to do tomorrow morning.

i relooked at my phone message from you whilst reading to check i wasnt supposed to do 1×9reps..1x 10 reps..LOL..i should have just kept reading.

Mothers- they always know just what to say (to drive you crazy). I don’t think you would let yourself lose any condition at all- and if your Mum read your blog she would know too!

So, were you supposed to do 9 or 10? If I lose count, I’ll run an extra 1 or 2 to make sure - don’t know why.
At least your mum remembers you’re a runner.

Mothers, you have to love them.
Good luck with deploying the remaining numbers. I just hope you’re not counting them!

I was thinking of all you Melbournites yesterday - even we heard about th shootings over here!
LOL at your Mum! I made a patchwork quilt for my niece and my mother quite seriously said that it was lucky I had made it before her tastes were fully formed!! To this day I can’t see how she meant that kindly!!!!

Oh damn, JH already took my post, I too was going to accuse you of management speak! I guess that teaches me for reading the posts a day late. I think I could probably guess who the “telco who shall remain nameless” is too, probably the same one who provides our “piece of c r a p” UCD phone system.
