Running
20Km in 1:50:26, average pace 5:32
A total Blah run today, in fact I am amazed I even got out the door and I was hanging my head from the outset. How I got through it without giving up I can’t tell you. Actually I can tell you, the thought of walking back to the car (I was running out and back) was even more demoralising. I had planned on 24Km but knew as soon as I took my first steps that it would have been too much of a mental battle. But it’s done now, moving on and all that.
The body was fine but my mind was just jumping all over the place
I reckon it’s just a PMT thing, the problem is the black moods for a couple of days a month are getting worse as I get older. Going back on the pill would help but I guess I’ll just have to put up with it. I guess I am a bit of a purist, I just don’t like putting chemicals in my body, I only even take painkillers and Codrals when I am totally desperate, ie killer cramps or a stuffed up head. Maybe I am a hippy chick at heart, I don’t even like wearing makeup most of the time (thankyou Mum for good skin), though I do draw this line at tie-dye and hairy armpits
Also I have been totally shattered today. I think I need to address some dietary issues, specifically protein intake and recovery eating. I have a tendency to finish a run and not eat for a few hours afterwards, like it or not I may have to give some sort of protein enriched recovery drink a go. This week I’ll try having some Sustegen and milk after my runs. For dinner I am cooking up a Vegetable Tagine with Chickpeas and I’ll serve Cous Cous with it, they will give me a protein hit as well.

Didn’t weigh in last week as I was away, thankfully after a slow week last week and eating too much I didn’t put on any weight. I have noticed a bit of a change in my build in general regardless of weight, in so far as I think I have muscles I didn’t have before. My mileage has been consistently higher with 70Km+ weeks since 22 January (except for one week of 25Km when I was away), so my goal of a 70Km base is well and truly being achieved.
I added a new text box to the sidebar to track the current weeks stats, as I start my week on a Monday it is empty at the mo.
