Running
A painfully slow 10km in 56:43, average pace 5:40
It was still 27 degrees when I started running at 530 this morning, it was like running through warm treacle, it was so hard to breathe and the sweat was pouring off me, hence the very slow pace. Even though it was the hilly course I usually cover it a few minutes quicker. The bummer of it all was that a cool change came through mid-morning and conditions would have been more conducive this afternoon, not to worry, can’t go back now.
With the unsettled conditions continuing it just means more morning running for at least the rest of the week.
The Vic Milers have another meet on tomorrow night at Box Hill. I am not a registered AV Athlete yet AND I am not ready to hit the track yet either, so I’ll be heading down to lend my voice in support and a helping hand. I am looking forward to seeing some good racing and getting the feel for what this track racing business is all about.
Public Transport Adventures
Had a jolly old time on the bus on the way home this afternoon. First it was 10 minutes late, pretty normal really. Then a few stops on a real character got on the bus. An older women, very outspoken and with an incredibly posh accent, but you should have heard what she was saying! First of all she asked the bus driver to help her get her shopping jeep on the bus because she couldn’t get it up the stairs herself.
The grumpy old bugger just looked at her, sat on his fat arse and then turned to the passengers and said “can someone help her on the bus?”, honestly, don’t put yourself out mate. Despite the fact that I was at the back of the bus I went down to help because everyone else just sat there like stunned mullets.
Then it was obvious that the poor old girl was not that steady on her pins as she slowly made her way to a seat. She asked me to get her wallet out for her and the bus driver just snapped “sit down”. She was still trying to get to a seat when he said “you better sitdown because I a taking off now”.
Can you believe it, what an old bastard. The old girl gave him what for though, she said something along the lines of “If you start driving this bus before I get to a seat I’ll smash you to the ground”
It was such a bizarre thing to say. The bus driver got all huffy and told her to get of the bus and stop threatening him. Seriously mate, she could barely walk let alone smash anyone, and you could hardly blame her. Fun and games on the 765 from Box Hill to Mitcham, they better finish this Middleborough road bypass thing soon, my scant reserve of patience is wearing thin.
And how can I forget the woman sitting next to me at the bus stop, I watched on in horror as she ate her way through half a block of Coon Tasty Cheese, it nearly made me sick but I couldn’t stop looking, it was like a car accident. Bet she has some really bad dreams tonight!
