Running
10Km in 52:54, average pace 5:17
I had what I call “The Cheats Rest” today, that is my run yesterday started at 07:30 and my run today started at 16:10. So I get to run on consecutive days but get almost 35 hours rest.
Today’s run was not shaping up to be a good one. For some reason this afternoon my confidence was a little down, perhaps knowing that it would be the 4th day in a row, I was also pretty hungry but didn’t have any healthy snacks handy. Added to that my calves and hammies were a bit tight.
However I warmed up really nicely and by the time I hit The Tan I was cruising along happily. The Nylex clock told me it was only 16 degrees but it felt warmer, either way the conditions were perfect. I had only planned on an easy 8Km, but after my first lap was feeling good so went the extra distance to bring up 10Km. I hit 10Km spot on the place I started out, so it was just serendipity really.
By the time I walked back into my building alot of people were leaving as it was about 17:15, as usual I copped the standard “looks”, today I just gave every one a great big smile in return and was even laughing to myself as I got to the change room. It was strange, this great mood just took ahold of me. I am sure security were thinking, “uh-oh, that strange red faced sweaty woman is now grinning like a serial killer and laughing at nothing”
I did experience my second Foot Path Rage incident today. I never blogged my first, it was just some loser telling me to “slow down you fucking idiot”, I kinda took it as a compliment really. Today I wasn’t even going that fast, I was slowing down to stop at the lights, ducking and weaving a bit, but it wasn’t that crowded. Anyway, some total tool decided he wasn’t going to deviate from his path for anything and gave me a right whack in the upper thigh with a closed fist, and yes, I am pretty sure it was deliberate. I am a big girl, I let it go, but if something like that happened to me on the wrong kinda day, God have mercy, I have a nasty temper when pushed!
The Psychic iPod
I read a great tongue in cheek story in the Good Weekend a couple of months ago about people who feel that their iPods are psychic, seemingly songs at the right time, even though the shuffle feature is on.
Total nonsense of course, but sometimes……
Exactly as I was just hitting Anderson St today “Strict Machine” by Goldfrapp came on, a more perfect song for labouring up a hill you could not ask for. For me the tempo was totally spot on for a good steady paced climb, before I knew it I was at the top and heading down the other side.
Who needs the power song feature on the Nano when you have a psychic shuffle
