Running in the AM

Running
8km in 42:29, average pace 5:19

Yaaaawwwwnnnn, out of bed at 05:15, knowing that it was going to be a hot day I wanted to get the run out of the way. While not strictly a morning person I am usually OK at this time but it was a struggle today as I didn’t get to bed until almost midnight. Not too worry, it was still dark so I had a quick read of the Forum, popped in the contacts and got dressed. By the time 5:40 rolled around it was light enough for me to venture out and I am so glad I did. It was a perfect morning for a run and before I knew it I was back home eating my weet-bix and feeling pretty damn smug really

It was a pretty comfortable run with a few undulations which I pushed myself up. My foot is still holding up although my calves were pretty tight so I should get a massage soon as tight calves will aggravate the injury.

I have pulled up fine so I will probably try and back up again tomorrow morning, maybe try the hilly 10km circuit around home.

I shot off my Sunset Series entry today which is giving me something to look forward to, also looking forward to the novelty of running an evening race.

I was quite rightly told off today for setting some very soft 2007 race goals on the forum. I was setting times that I knew I could achieve, so I revised and set some more challenging times which I may or may not make, I should stop being so cautious.

So here goes

Half Marathon - 95 to 98 minutes
10Km - 42 minutes, if it happens it is most likely to be at the Zatopek lower grade in December, someone owes me some lap counting :-)
5Km - 20 minutes

Oh yeah and I ate really well today, boredom eating was averted at 230pm with a quick walk around the block.

Thought for the Day
Hey, do you think Rocket Scientists sit around and say things like “Hey, it’s not exactly Rocket Science you know!”?

Bond, James Bond
Loved Casino Royale, probably one of the best Bond films ever, they really excelled themselves. The screen play was much better than the recent efforts, the story was a bit darker and the villains less comic book like and Daniel Craig was a triumph as Bond.

There was a great, totally far fetched chase scene at the start, kinda reminded me of Crash Bandicoot (the computer game), but really well executed.

2 thumbs up from me. A warning to any guys who haven’t seen it yet, a rather unpleasant torture scene will have you squirming, hell, it had me squirming!
