Running
Finally, finally I was able to go for a run today. No time, distance or pace to report, I just wanted to get moving again and test out the foot. I didn’t head out until about 430 this afternoon and just went for an easy loop from my place down and around the park at the end of the next street and back home again. At a guess only about 4km and the pace was kept very easy. Not a shuffle, good form and all that, just a gentle pace and just enjoying being out there again.
After the first Km I stopped for some good stretching of the calves and achilles and then got started again. Also some stretching when I finished and a precautionary ice massage on the foot. Very pleased to report that there was no discomfort and if it feels fine when I wake up tomorrow I’ll run the same course again. I think a sensible plan for recovery will be to just alternate days of running and rest and to just keep the distance around 5km and the pace easy. If all goes well I’ll see the year out this way and return to proper training in January.
You have no idea how relieved I am to be able to get back again. As much as I kept active in the bike and in the pool and tried to watch what I ate I still managed to put on a little weight. How much, who know’s I am not getting on the scales but I feel it and I am not comfortable with it (even though no one reckons they can notice). So Monday is a whole new week on a fresh page
Life
The shops were MAD today. I hate supermarket shopping at the best of times but today it was insane, Christmas! I was there for about 20 minutes, completely cracked it and ran out of there. Didn’t get any groceries so god knows what I’ll have for tea tonight, but I ‘aint going back to that supermarket that’s for damn sure.

Ooh lala! Love the new blog Em… I downlowded the wordpress stuff a while ago but haven’t done anything with it yet, looks like I might follow your lead and update for the new year
I’m so pleased to see that you are back running again – I know that you for one, would certainly go nuts if you had an extended lay off!

Nice digs, Em. After all of the problems that people have been having with blogger beta, I might feel the need to shift as well.
BTW your header is screwy in Firefox.

Looking good Em! I was also having nightmares posting comments to anyone on Beta from the home PC, so glad to be back!
Great news that you’re back into it and that your first run went so well. You displayed an awesome amount of patience – very commendable indeed. May the rest of the year go without a hitch.
MAR.
